9. Simplify to Amplify

Our ancestors never had it so bad. They were not so distracted. They had of course another set of problems but with the advancement of science and technology, lives should be getting simpler; instead they are getting more and more complicated.

The reason is because now more than ever before there are tools that simplify our tasks. There are affordable machines that help us with our jobs, making life more open. If the user does not know how to use the tool, then it is on the user, not on the tool. Now more than ever before the distractions are too many and the attention is getting hijacked without us even knowing about it.

If someone stole our money we would report it to the authorities but if someone stole our time, where do we report it? And how do we even report it, if we ourselves are oblivious to what is being taken away from us. For example, what is the cost of owning a television? A telephone? A television that lies to our eyes and a telephone that lies to our ears.

It is rather affordable for every household no matter what income bracket they fall into to own a television set but do we know that it has gotten rather expensive. It is not the one time payment that we pay for owning the television but every single time when we watch television, it is taking time away from engaging in something where we could be the main actors of our lives. Why watch someone else's life unfold on television when you could be living life, unfolding the layers of your own life.

After attending this workshop, you learn better so you do better. Instead of sitting and singing the song of not having enough time, not having enough energy, not having enough money, you thrive in the song of silence. A sudden revelation of feeling imprisoned by our own belongings. Owning so much and yet having no space to enjoy the ownership. No space to be yourself. No space to celebrate life that is in the simple inhaling and exhaling.

Before you engage in something ask yourself what is the purest intention of doing what you are doing. So what is a good indicator of whether we should or should not be engaging in something? It is the way we feel. It is the way our body relaxes into the act. It is what we get nourished by no matter how much time we invest in it. It is a feeling that expands us, not contracts us. We get energized by the act, not depleted.

This workshop will do exactly that. It will help you get in tune with understanding how your body feels in the space of each activity. You will learn to tune in to your body to accept or reject the space by allowing your body to be the judge of it. If it nourishes you and there is a symbiotic resonance and you feel energized, continue. The minute it becomes hectic, tiring, antagonizing and energy draining, you need to change gears, change the table, change the company. You are the contact in your life. You are your hub.
